Celia Izaguirre

I became interested in agro-ecology in my early years in FIU. Thanks to the environmental classes taken I have developed a passion for nature. I am an international business major and wish to gear businesses into more sustainable practices. My goal is to concentrate on better management practices (BMP) for commodities and their processing. Disseminating these practices to developing nations and preserving our limited resources is also an interest of mine.

For the moment, all my efforts are going into the sustainable garden we have on campus, next to the preserve. The current project can be expanded by providing growing space for students participating in a garden club. I see this as a campus community-building enterprise that can be extended to sites throughout Miami. This will allow many low income families to receive better nutrition without spending additional funds
