This Monday, we will have a visit by Dr. Ashok Alva, research leader at USDA ARS in Washington. He will be giving a seminar on Soil Water Sensors for Best Management of Irrigation for Specialty Crops at noon in the Sustainable Agriculture Class in PG 153. Local Beekeepers, Steve Corniffe and John Gentzel, will teach FIU students the basics of beekeeping in this workshop. Come learn about how to get started raising bees, the clothing and tools needed, building a hive, collecting honey, and management practices for common bee diseases. With so many honey bee colonies collapsing around the world, local beekeeping may serve as a viable option to maintain populations while benefiting from consuming local, raw honey as well as maintaining long term eco
