FIU Agroecology Program takes D.C. and Earth and Environment launches Graduate Research Symposium

Tuesday April 10, 2012

Students from the FIU Agroecology Program visited Washington, D.C., to take part in the Multicultural Scholars (MSP) and National Needs Fellows (NNF) Programs Project Directors Annual Meeting in March.

According to the Environmental Studies Graduate Program Director, Dr. Krish Jayachandran, "In 2007, I attended the USDA-MSP-NNF Project Directors meeting alone, in 2009, I took two students with me for the same, in 2012 just recently, I took six of our undergraduate MSP supported scholars to DC. Hoping to keep this trend with increase in number of students in the future." For more on this story, visit

The Department of Earth and Environment will also be holding their first annual Graduate Research Symposium. The Symposium will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Apr. 11 in the MARC Pavilion with opening remarks from Earth and Environment Chair, Dr. Rosemary Hickey-Vargas.
